The Tray Platform is issuing also TECHNICAL OPINIONS on new packaging solutions that have been positively assessed by the TCEP technical expert’s panel. Innovations that have been positively assessed should not cause any problems during recycling, assuming that the set conditions are met.

      January 2024 -- The Technical Committee of the Tray Circularity Evaluation Platform (TCEP) was requested to assess the effect of: Klockner Pentaplast Hot FillTM to be introduced in the PET tray market, assuring compatibility with Euro-pean PET thermoforms recycling. This packaging solution is consisted of PET structure with amorphous copolyesters that are used as external layers to obtain high heat resistant PET trays Based on the TCEP assessment’s outcome and current market knowledge in 2022-2023, the Tray Circularity Evaluation Platform (TCEP) concludes that: The use of Klockner Pentaplast Hot FillTM will not have a negative impact on current European PET trays recycling based on current and anticipated volumes, and have awarded an endorsement for a mar-ket penetration of up to 0.5%. Based on the TCEP assessment’s outcome and current market knowledge in 2022, the Tray Circularity Evaluation Platform (TCEP) concludes that: The use of Barox 1000 as a barrier additive will not have a negative impact on current European PET trays recycling streams. Based on the TCEP assessment’s outcome and current market knowledge in 2022, the Tray Circularity Evaluation Platform (TCEP) concludes that: The use of Sarafil HS101 and Sarafil FH10H as lidding films for PET trays will not have a negative impact on current European PET tray Recycling streams.
